There are differing regulations for owner residential dwellings and apartments. Permits allow residents to park in the areas posted as residential parking.
Owner Residential Dwellings - Residents must provide proof (driver’s license or utility bill) that shows their street address to purchase a permit. They must bring the vehicle to the office so that a permit may be placed on the windshield.
Each resident may purchase up to three permits and one guest pass.
• The cost of one annual Residential Permit is $5/$10/$15. Amount increases for second or third vehicle.
• The cost of an annual Visitors Pass is $5.00
The guest pass is to be used by anyone visiting a resident but not by the residents themselves. The pass may be displayed for only three days. Residents displaying a residential permit may park in any areas marked as residential and in 90-minute areas.
If a resident needs additional passes for a limited time, they can be borrowed from the Police Department during regular business hours. A $25 per pass deposit will be charged until passes are returned.
Rental Apartments - Any apartment either built or converted after 1978, must provide ample parking for their tenants. Therefore, any apartments built or converted into apartments after 1978 are not eligible for Tenant Parking Permits.
For tenants that are eligible to purchase a Tenant Parking Permit the landlord must fill out a rental property form. This form gives the location of the rental property and a list of the tenants. This form must be verified by a town representative before permits can be issued. The tenant must provide a copy of the lease, and a bill showing that they live at that address. Students must provide a copy of their school transcript along with the other items listed above. Tenants may purchase up to two permits but no guest pass. The cost of first annual Tenant Permit is $25 and second is $75.00
